[Tommy Emmanuel to Play German House] Tommy Emmanuel in R News studio. Grammy-nominated acoustic guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel brings his ‘Bases Loaded’ tour to Rochester’s German House Wednesday night.

The Guitar League is sponsoring his visit. Emmanuel just released a double live album called ‘Center Stage,’ and he was chosen by the readers of Guitar Player Magazine as best acoustic player of 2008.

Emmanuel’s tour has taken him around the world, but he’s spent the last week on stops across upstate New York. ‘Ruby Eyes’ is one of the songs he plays on this tour. He says it was inspired during one of his many airport waits.

“As I’m playing the melody, I have my eyes closed and I hear this sound. I opened my eyes and this little girls was standing in front of me singing the melody. It was like a miracle. Her mother came up, both swayed to the playing and I eventually asked, ‘What’s your little girl’s name?’ She was so interesting, such a fascinating little person and she said her name is Ruby, and I said. ‘I’ve just written you a song.’ ”

There are a few tickets still available for the Tommy Emmanuel show at the German House Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
